iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 4 + iTunes 8.2 pre-release

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 4 build 7A300g is now ready for download along with iTunes 8.2 pre-release.

This new build requires the iTunes 8.2 pre-release to activate your iPhone. Also of course, your iPhone’s UDID should be registered as part of the iPhone Developers Program to have it activated.

Will update more on this as soon as I can get it working.

Update 1: I have successfully installed iTunes 8.2 pre-release and been able to activate my iPhone 3G without a hitch. I also added a gallery of what’s relevant on this new build.

Update 2:Chatters are going on the net that Blu-ray will be likely supported by iTunes 8.2 but is still not very clear on how iTunes will play a part on this. So does this mean we will be expecting Blu-ray equipped Macs in the pipeline?

Also here are the reported changes on the new build.

  • You can change spotlight to search for what you want to search for ex everything but applications.
  • iPod icon is aligned.
  • Restrictions now add In-App Purchases and Location. and Location.

Update 2: I have now installed the new beta build on my iPhone 3G and I can now confirm that iPhone 3.0 Beta 3 makes Skype calls over the 3G network not possible. (please see screen shot below)

Update 3: This new version fixed my YouTube problem which started on the first version of iPhone 3.0. Finally it’s been fixed. This is a lot snappier as well compared to the last build.

Finally I have been able to make Internet Tethering to work on my iPhone 3G. I had made successful pairing to my MacBook. I tested tethering via Bluetooth and USB – both are working all just fine. Now I think with this new feature, I may need a bigger data bundle.
